The vision of Bykota Ministries can be summed up in this statement: we desire to see every person actively engaged in advancing the kingdom of God in their everyday life and the lives of those around them, while being supported by a structure that teaches, equips, and encourages the individual in this pursuit. The Message Bible captures this purpose by saying we should experience the "seamless unity of believing and doing" (James 2:25 MSG). We are striving for a unity of believing and doing. By this we, mean a balance of living a life of faith and becoming actively involved in the process of kingdom advancement. This mindset of kingdom advancement is not defined by getting around one man's vision, which in most church settings is that of the pastor, but rather, it is defined by corporate and individual engagment in the community, in the world, and in accordance with what God has placed on individual hearts and minds.
To accomplish this purpose, we have sought to create what we call "simple church". We define simple church as the body meeting together in smaller groups, led by elders that have a heart to bishop and shepherd the people; gathering together for passionate celebration and equipping services as we do on Sunday; and the church reaching out to our extended families, neighborhoods, work places, cities, states, and nations of the world. This simple church model is most easily explained with the image of a three legged stool. Each leg of the of the stool carries a part of the whole. When we meet together in smaller settings, we call this "leg" Church in the House (CITH). As we gather on Sunday for celebration and equipping, we call this "leg" Church in Celebration (CIC) and as we reach out in the community, we call this "leg" Church in Ministry (CIM).
